Manually create a snapshot and run checks

Manually take a snapshot of your database and run checks against an offline database URL.

Note: This snapshot is not permanently retained.

Before you begin

  • A database you can take a snapshot of.

  • A Liquibase Secure license.

  • At least one database-scoped check enabled in your checks settings file.

Procedure

Create a snapshot

Replace your_snapshot.json with your snapshot file name, and set --snapshot-format to the format you want.
liquibase --output-file=your_snapshot.json snapshot --snapshot-format=json

Add the offline snapshot URL to liquibase.properties

Replace your_db_shortname with your database's short name, for example oracle, postgresql, or h2. Also replace your_snapshot.json with your snapshot file's name.
liquibase.command.url: offline:your_db_shortname?snapshot=your_snapshot.json

The type of database is determined from the url property if at least one database-scoped check is enabled. If the database cannot be determined, Liquibase automatically generates SQL to check against using H2.

Run the checks run command

liquibase checks run --checks-scope=database
