Administrator Quick Start
Last updated: September 29, 2026
You stand up Liquibase Secure for your organization and keep it running: deploy the server, apply the license, connect Secure Automation, and verify that operational data is flowing. Your journey: deploy, license, secure, connect, operate.
What you own
You own
- The server: deployment, health, upgrades, and platform settings.
- Licensing: adding the license, renewing it, and understanding utilization.
- Access and connectivity: users, roles, authentication, and the connection between Secure Automation and the server. Liquibase Secure Role-Based Access Control explains the model in one pass before you grant anything.
You do not own
- Policy selection: which controls apply and where is the governance owner's call.
- Change authoring: changesets and changelogs belong to developers.
- Project scope: projects, pipelines, and their governance are owned by project owners.
Your path
Understand the architecture and prerequisites. See How you operate Liquibase Secure.
Deploy Liquibase Server. See Install Liquibase Secure server.
Add the Liquibase Secure license to the server. See Import license files into Liquibase Secure server.
Configure authentication, users, roles, and access. See Liquibase Secure Role-Based Access Control.
Deploy Secure Automation into the CI/CD environment. See Set up the automation prerequisites.
Configure connectivity from Secure Automation to the server. See Connect to Liquibase Server.
Point Change Automation nodes at the server's license endpoint, so each node reads the license from the server instead of carrying a license file. See Serve license terms to Change Automation nodes.
Configure operation reporting. See Configure operation reporting.
Verify communication end to end. Run a Liquibase command from CI and confirm the operation appears in the dashboard. See Connect to Liquibase Server and Verify Liquibase Secure server health.
Configure platform-level defaults. See Configure Liquibase Secure server.
Validate audit and operational visibility. See Analyze patterns in policy failures over time.
Establish maintenance and upgrade procedures. See Upgrade Liquibase Server.
