Create a policy check

In the web application, a new check starts as a duplicate of one that already exists. You pick the check whose rule is closest to what you want, copy it into a package you own, and configure the copy.
Before you begin
Have a package in a catalog your team owns ready to hold the new check.
Know which existing check comes closest to the rule you want, because a new check starts as a duplicate of one you can already see. Browse the policy catalog to find it.
Procedure
Start a new check
Under Govern, select Policies, then select Manage on your catalog to open Policy Checks Packages. Select + New and choose New Check.
Note: If New Check is greyed out, you are in the read-only Liquibase Default Catalog. Switch to a catalog you own from the Catalog breadcrumb first.
Pick the check to duplicate
Choose a source check from any package you can see, including the Liquibase Default Catalog. The copy inherits the source check’s rule, its parameters, and the values currently set on it.
Pick the destination package
Choose a package in a catalog you own. Read-only catalogs are not offered.
Configure the copy
Set the parameters, severity, and category on the new check the same way you would when configuring any check, then save.
Results
Your package holds a new check. It enforces nothing yet, because a check takes effect only once an assignment carries its package.

Your new check enforces nothing until an assignment carries its package. Define policy assignments to put it to work, then set policy check severity and exit codes when it has earned your trust.
