Developer Quick Start

You author database changes and ship them through your delivery pipeline. Governance is enforced automatically when your change deploys, and the feedback comes back to you in your own tools. Your journey: create, validate, deliver, understand, mitigate, repeat.

What you own

You own

  • Your changes: changesets, changelogs, and the rollback defined for each change.
  • Validation: previewing and validating changes before you commit them.
  • The response: investigating governance feedback, correcting the change, and requesting an exemption where a control does not apply.

You do not own

  • Policy selection: which controls apply to your project is decided by your governance owner.
  • The pipeline: CI/CD configuration and Secure Automation deployment belong to your platform team.
  • The server: deploying and operating Liquibase Secure is the administrator's work.

Your path

  1. Create a database change. See Create a Liquibase project.

  2. Add it to the changelog. See How should I structure my changelog?.

  3. Validate and preview the change.

  4. Commit the change.

  5. Execute it through the delivery pipeline. Governance is enforced automatically.

  6. Review the status and the policy feedback.

  7. Investigate any failure.

  8. Modify or mitigate the change.

  9. Request an exemption where the control does not apply. See What are policy checks?.

  10. Resubmit.
